Who are we?

Safest Space is a team of university students committed to using our experiences with mental health and the stresses of university life to guide others in our community through the same struggles. Between the three of us, we try to cover a wide range of experiences and perspectives, to bring you relatable and empathetic stories and suggestions.

Meet our team!

Amy

Amy is a 22-year old from Auckland, New Zealand, currently living in sunny Brisbane, Queensland. She's a fifth-year student undertaking her second bachelor's degree, a Bachelor of Communications, at the University of Queensland. Her experience navigating the fluctuations of her own mental health journey makes the Safest Space project one that she is incredibly passionate about. She's committed to helping others in the community through their own experiences, knowing that she has a special insight into the struggles of some. Amy is particularly excited to demonstrate some of the best ways to cope with the daily stresses life throws at us, and to help others find a healthy mix between completing work they're proud of and enjoying themselves by staying healthy and happy.

Eve

Eve is an 18 year old from the Gold Coast, living in Brisbane in their second year of a dual Bachelor's degree in Arts and Communication. They've been through a rollercoaster of mental health experiences, both through the people they're close to and through struggles of their own, and they strive to learn everything they can from hard situations. Eve's passionate about helping others wherever they can, so Safest Space is an exciting opportunity for them to work with the community and build a supportive environment for other students. Eve is also our resident study tip guru - they're as good at procrastinating as the rest of us, but they love to try new organisation and study tools, and they're excited to share some of their favourite tactics with the Safest Space community.

Sam

Sam is an 18 year old from the Sunshine Coast, currently living in Brisbane in his second year of a dual Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Science at University of Queensland. He's a self proclaimed professional procrastinator, so he specialises in effective last minute assignment submissions, but he's mastered the best ways to relax and keep yourself sane in the middle of university related stresses. Throughout the Safest Space journey, Sam will be the one to recommend the best ways to keep your mind off doing university work, all while looking after yourself, your body, and your mind. His favourite distractions include surfing, reading, tai chi, yoga, re-watching Game of Thrones, and spending quality time with his girlfriend.
